Overview

The Biz Of Life programme equips students with entrepreneurship skills that will be relevant for their future working life. It also helps them to develop 21st century competencies such as taking responsible risks (a Habit of Mind - HOM), taking initiatives, developing self-directedness and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Students will be equipped with skills to think “out of the box” (innovate) and decision-making tips and tools to help them take responsible risks. They will be empowered with relevant life skills – self-leadership, marketing, life-long learning, financial literacy skills and understanding the importance of technology as young adults.

Course Outline

Part 1: Interactive workshop

• Ice-breaker: The Value Game
• Brainstorm & Presentation: What does it take to start a business?
• Introduction of the Biz of Life model
• Business start-up challenges vs challenges in life
• Brainstorm & Presentation: The roles of each different department & relevance to life
• How to run your life like a real business

Students will be given a templated personal entrepreneural guide      

Part 2: Learning Journey

• Visit to real start-up companies at NUS Enterprise Centre / NTU Innovation Centre / Selected Start-up sites where Founders/managers of the start-ups will share experiences
• Student reflection and discussion
